Just in time for the holidays... some positive news in the world of food and food allergies. Just the other day, I stumbled on a copy of Sauce Magazine that featured Linda Daniels of Free Range Cookies that offers breads, cookies and candies that are all gluten-free. Opposite the article was an ad for Pasta House, featuring their gluten-free menu. (Now, I have heard some conflicting reports about the veracity of these claims. I reader actually commented that the pasta was NOT actually gluten free so I hope that someone at the Pasta House can clarify this. That's pretty serious!)
I attended a school meeting regarding food allergies, wherein several families shared their experiences with co-managing life-threatening food allergies with their kids' schools. The folks with older kids were very encouraging, explaining that their middle and high school kids have stayed safe and have been very proactive and responsible regarding their food choices.
And earlier this month, Gateway FEAST hosted a meeting focusing on Section 504 Plans and working with schools, which was very well attended. For notes and resources on the subject, visit the Gateway FEAST Yahoo Groups page.
