I Cheated on Him!
It's true. The burden of my guilt is weighing on my heart. I've been faithful for so long. But I have to confess that... I did it. I've had nuts. It started out so innocently. Some pistachios in a chicken salad sandwich. I didn't realize how much I missed them. I forgot how absolutely yummy they are. It's not like I made a pact with God or anything. So when I'm away from the family, I find myself ordering a salad with walnuts or devouring a whole bowl of almonds.
Yes, the cake has PECANS! And I had it in my own house, after bedtime! Guess what? It was soooooo delicious!
T, one day a long time from now, you might read this. I hope you can understand and forgive me. Just so you know, after I ate it... I did wash my hands and brush my teeth.

I'm a mom of a dairy allergy kid, and I give you a lot of credit for following your son's diet... I can't do it.
I can't give up cheese and ice cream, nor can I stand the thought of "fake" substitutes.
Fortunately, my Molly doesn't seem to mind when anyone else eats the enemy.
Thanks for the comment, MM! Along the lines of... I don't expect my kids to eat what I wouldn't eat myself I felt that I shouldn't expect him to avoid all the goodies out there if I couldn't do it myself. And I still believe that his life is far from deprived! :)
Perhaps to make up for my indiscretion, I made him a special popcorn, chocolate, marshmallow, pretzel treat o' love for our family movie night!
I was in the grocery store parking lot the other day, alone, savoring a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, my one secret indulgence. I felt like a druggie trying to hide an addiction. When I finished I ran back inside to wash my hands and rinse my mouth. Then I came home, washed my hands again, and brushed my teeth...then I washed my toothbrush. I had to stop and wonder if it was worth it. My husband's peanut allergy has gotten so bad that he can have an anaphylactic reaction to just the smell. But ya' know what? It was goood! Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. :)
Forgive me Ria, for I have sinned :) I too, enjoy nuts from time to time. Usually in an incredible chinese chicken salad from a place around the corner from my work. I can't help myself! But I know I wont see Bella for at least 3 hours after I eat it so I know it has time to wear off. I still feel guilty every time though :)
Wow. I learned something from this post--not having anyone with a food allergy in my life, I didn't know nut allergies could be so severe that just the smell or residual dust or whatever could prompt an attack. Geez...scary.

I do the same thing ... the Husband is allergic to walnuts and red meat, so I frequently order them when I'm out ... sometimes both in the same meal!!! Naughty, naughty!!
