Trace Adkins and Food Allergies
Walk season is coming up. FAAN's annual Walk Towards a Cure for Food Allergies will be held in various cities across the country starting in September. Trace Adkins is this year's celebrity walk chair, having a 6-year old daughter with food allergies. "We had no experience with food allergies at the time, and it was terrifying," Trace says. "We later learned she's also allergic to milk and eggs. So I know firsthand how important FAAN's efforts to increase funding for food allergy research are."The event will be held in 20 cities and online. Having served on last year's Walk Committee for the event in St. Louis, I know that these fundraisers depend on the commitment and tireless energy of local volunteers, many of whom are moms and dads of food allergy kids. A list of dates and cities can be found on the FAAN website. I am so grateful to them for creating such high visibility for this issue in our local communities.
An added feature to this year's fundraiser is a Virtual Walk, scheduled for December 8, 2007. It is listed as Alexander's Home Town, USA. The fundraising goal for this year is $250,000 and as of today, $202,725 has already been raised!

Ria,
Isn't it wonderful to have a celebrity on our side? Let's hope this inspires other celebrities to get involved.
FAAN has been reaching out for so many thank goodness our family that I know of, hasn't any allergies to food.
Trace is standing up for his daughter who I know has horrible allergies.
Its too bad more celebrities don't stand up for something that is so personal.
